• The Technology Integration Matrix (TIM) illustrates how teachers can use technology to enhance learning for K-12 students. The TIM incorporates five interdependent characteristics of meaningful learning environments: active, constructive, goal directed (i.e., reflective), authentic, and collaborative (Jonassen, Howland, Moore, & Marra, 2003). The TIM associates five levels of technology integration (i.e., entry, adoption, adaptation, infusion, and transformation) with each of the five characteristics of meaningful learning environments. Together, the five levels of technology integration and the five characteristics of meaningful learning environments create a matrix of 25 cells as illustrated below.

Telephones / Phones in Education:

    • The teacher signs up for a free account.
      • This generates a unique code
a teacher adds his/her class, which generates a unique code. The teacher then shares that code with students or parents. At that point, any student or parent who sends a text message with the code will be "subscribed" to the teacher's class. Any time a teacher sends a message from remind101, all the students or parents subscribed will receive it.
    • The teacher shares the code with students and/or parents.
    • When the student or parent responds to the text message with the code, they will be subscribed to the teacher's class
    • When the teacher texts a message from remind101, all subscribers will receive it.
    • Teachers never see students/parents phone numbers.
    • Students/parents never see teacher's phone number.
